Kayaking With the Family at Dana Point
We drove down to Dana Point Harbor yesterday to enjoy our Sunday out-and-about as a family. DP is a beautiful little bay with all sorts of fun things to do. When we arrived around 8:30 am, there were surfers galore out in the waves, as the overcast morning was keeping the air cool; and plenty of runners and bicyclists were making the most of the early hours along the trails.
We decided to rent kayaks to circle around the harbor, which then leads you out into the open sea. We opted for a 4-hour block, so we had plenty of time to get situated and enjoy the sites without having to rush. It was such a gorgeous day, especially once the haze started burning off and the sun was shining.
We encountered seals along the way, enjoyed the pelicans "talking" as we paddled by, and snapped shots of a cool pirate ship that was parked at one end of the harbor. The kids had a blast racing each other and bumping into us from time-to-time. It was such a fantastic way to spend the day, especially since we topped it off with lunch at The Native, one of our favorite vegan spots. We all can't wait to go back again soon.
Here are some photos from our little seaside excursion.
