Fine Art, Food & Fun For Festivus: Family Photos of our Adventure
When holiday time rolls around, our family likes to skedaddle. We pick a spot, make reservations, arrange for Steve to use a few of his vacation days, pack our bags and head on out. The last few years, we haven't even traveled far. We figure it's not really the amount of miles you venture, as much as the importance of time spent together and a break away from deadlines, emails, stress and redundancy.
This year, we headed to charming Old Town Pasadena, California, which is the business district of Pasadena, a diverse spot located just ten miles from downtown Los Angeles. It features great architecture, beautiful places to walk, excellent vegan restaurants, cool bookstores (including one particular used book store that we fell in love with and visited/purchased from three times), and art galleries and museums that kick booty.
Our daily adventures were full of great conversation, delicious food, beautiful artwork, splendid weather, early morning swims at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center (for me, while Steve ran laps around the Rose Bowl), lots of laughs, and best of all, time together. Lots and lots of time together. For three days straight. With no work, no interruptions, no due dates or emails to answer. It's a rare little slice of time, but an amazing slice that I am incredibly appreciative of and will always treasure.
Here are some photos of our little Festivus vacation. No "airing of grievances" for us though; just some really memorable days spent as a family.
Caddel December Celebration 2009. Woot Woot!
**Museum photos are from the incredible Norton Simon Museum, where we enjoyed viewing works by Picasso, Van Gogh, Vigee-Lebrun (my favorite), and many, many more.
