It's Rex Manning Day (for me)
Many years ago, back when I started getting tattooed, I quickly realized that days that included ink sessions were among my most favorite and anticipated of events. I needed something that encompassed just how fantastic these days were, so I turned to one of my favorite films of all time, Empire Records, and borrowed their brilliant Rex Manning Day dub to apply to my "days filled with ink."
Since TODAY is indeed a Rex Manning Day for me, I thought I would share some RM fun before I head out to see Mike DeVries for the day.
If you haven't seen Empire Records before, I HIGLHLY recommend it! Especially in these days of corporate domination and capitalistic-fed greed, it's fun to see the "little guy" prevail and join in with the "Damn the Man" mantra.
Not only that, but the soundtrack is superb and features loads of bands I dig: The Martinis, The Meices, Coyote Shivers, The Cranberries, Suicidal Tendencies, Adolesents, Throwing Muses (the last three are featured on the alternative soundtrack) and many more!
*So...what's with today, today? Why, it's Rex Manning Day!

haha love empire records....i'm jealous, i don't go in for my tattoo day for another 13 days ... i'm already at the stage where i can't sleep bc i'm off the hook excited and can't stop thinkin about going!!! are you getting something new done or working on an excisting piece? can't wait to see it whatever it is.
