Word of the Day: April 2, 2009

pandemonium (pan-duh-moh-nee-uhm) - noun

Pandemonium is a state of extreme confusion and disorder; chaos.

The word was actually invented by the English poet John Milton (1608-1674) for the capital city of hell, Pandaemonium, in his poem "Paradise Lost."  In fact, the word demon is contained within pandemonium.
