June 2: On This Day in 1935 - Babe Ruth Retires (video)

June 2, 1935: On this day, Babe Ruth retired from baseball, ending his Major League career after 22 seasons, 10 World Series and 714 home runs. "He was a circus, a play and a movie, all rolled into one," said teammate Lefty Gomez. "Kids adored him, Men idolized him. Women loved him. There was something about him that made him great."
