Love: From Broken Hearts to Celebrating Simplicity

This past week has been an introspective one for me, as I have watched someone very dear to me struggle with the emotions that come with the end of a relationship. The many stages of suffering that accompany this roller coaster ride are tricky. Because I have been with Steve for so long, I had to really focus and reminisce to earlier times in my life when I had felt the same pain, to be able to relate and offer advice and support.

A broken heart is tricky to mend and while it may be easy for those with a clear perspective to see a solution, many times, words of advice and pleas to conjure up strength to the one going through the heartache just don't carry that much significance until the heart in question is ready to heal and move on.

While reflecting a bit today, I remembered a quote that I have always loved. It seems to often apply in many "life" situations and seemed remarkably appropriate in this regard as well:

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." - Helen Keller

I understand that walking through that door and feeling ready to tackle what lies ahead can be a slow and steady process. When one is ready to knock and enter upon that new journey, one can only imagine what beauty and happiness is waiting to be found. I hope that my "dear one" knows that my door, my heart, and my ears are always open to lend support when that time comes.

To end on a positive note, I wanted to share this MOST BEAUTIFUL video by kidswithcrayons. It knocked my socks off, really. The simplicity, whimsy, music, love, thoughtfulness...ahhhh, it's just extraordinary and should remind us all how simple and uncomplicated love should really be.

That was beautifully written. Thank you for posting this today. It came at a very poignant time for me, as I am going through a similar journey and realizing the significance of my life and my happiness. May broken hearts be mended and strengthened each and every day. Thanks, Jinxi.

I have been there too, from your side Jinxi, and from your friends side also. I had a girlfriend three years older than me in high school, but the age difference didn't matter, we were IN LOVE. But she moved on to college while I had to stick out high school. We made it work for awhile and I thought she was the one i would be with forever. Then she dumped me for the 'college life'. Never felt do crappy in my life. But now, I look back at it and feel good that I got through it and on with my life. It's just that initial bump we have to get over, then the world opens up so many more possibilities.

Another wonderful post Jinxi!!!

Palatial!

Hi Jinxi,
Just saying hi. I hope your friend feels better. You're a good friend. When my friends feel this way, it makes me that much more thankful for Julio.

That video was so sweet & beautiful. I really love the locations, how wonderful. I would love to visit a town like that, or live there!

I hope your friend's broken heart heals more quickly than it might seem.
That is such a gut wrenching & heart wrenching feeling. Like the world is closing around you and all you can feel are the tears welling up. I hate to see anyone go through it.
I hope they are surrounded in hugs.

~*Much love*~
