Vegan Tattoo Number Three: Black Cochin Chicken

Yesterday was a fantastic day, as Mike DeVries finished up my third tattoo in the vegan-themed sleeve that we are putting together. This was our third session on this beauty and WOWZA, was it worth the hours of "ink acquiring" necessary to complete it.

Meet my adorable little Black Cochin Chicken. Yes, she looks like a rooster, but it's actually a beautiful breed of chicken with fluffy legs and gorgeous black feathers, sometimes sprinkled with splashes of emerald green.

Cochins are known for their sweet personalities and endering mothering qualities. They became famous in the 1800s when this Chinese breed was given as a gift to Queen Victoria of England, who absolutely adored them.

I also adore them and now get to admire one each day, as it sits right next to my pig tattoo, above my portrait of Steve, and adjacent to my cow tattoo.

Cluck, cluck!

Gorgeamous!
Curious, a hen on a vegan-sleved theme? "Jiiiiiinxi, you got some 'splainin' to do!" Naw. She's a beaut! Makes me long for my childhood in the LA suburbs (Thousand Oaks) where, growing up, we always had a brood of Rhode Islans Reds cluckin' about the yard, layin' heavenly, fresh, brown, yolky orbs and providing us as well with endless hours of entertainment and love. I miss those gals - my fine, feathered friends!
Keep on gildin' the lily, you glorious creature!
