Why February 16th, Bjork, and The Sugarcubes Changed My Life

Twenty-one years ago TODAY (yes, all the way back in 1990), Steve and I went on our first "date." We drove in my 1969 Volkswagen Bug to the Hollywood Palladium and got to watch The Primitives open for The Sugarcubes.

Bjork was the lead singer for the band and it was the first time I had seen her sing live. She sang and screamed with such fervor that Einar had to round out the last 20 minutes of the show on vocals.

It was an amazing night, not just from a musical standpoint, but because it was the start to our relationship. From that day on, Steve has been by my side and I am a better person every day because of that.

Funny the directions that life takes you. The small and seemingly insignificant events that go on to become monumental moments that dictate your journey.

February 16th will always be one of those monumental days in my book.

I love you, Steve.*

*Peace, love, and us (as we used to say).

Here's a little blast from the past for all you 80s/Bjork/Sugarcubes fans.

Enjoy!
