'The Last Post' by Derek K. Miller: About Death and LIFE
I read this amazing blog post this morning, written by Derek K. Miller shortly before he died and posted shortly thereafter as a farewell/love letter, on his fantastic blog penmachine.com.
It is powerful, honest, and beautiful.
It makes you stop what you are doing and think about everything that matters. Everything that zooms by you every day, while trying to get work done, projects finished, laundry washed, and errands run.
It makes you love your family, your friends, and the little things that get neglected.
It made me smile and cry, and wonder if I could be so courageous and have such clarity if in the same position.
I urge you to read it if you have the time and to remember Derek when you feel like life is unfair or too hectic. Because the reality of it all is that it's short, beautiful, and fleeting...and if we don't live it the way we "always dreamed of living it," what is it all about, really?
Read when you can. I think you will be glad you did.
