Syzygy is the "conjunction or opposition of a heavenly body with the sun."
Also "any two related things, either alike or opposite."
The word syzygy was first used around 1650-1660, from the Latin syzygia. The Greek word syzygia meant "yoke, pair, union of two" from syzygein, meaning "to yoke together."
**Syzygy is the shortest word in English with three ys.
