No matter what though, someone is going to be offended by something someone else says. Especially if from different viewpoints. I feel that when someone says that phrase, they are making it a point to tell you that they are not intending to hurt anyone's feelings, but they are making a statement that they feel very strong convictions for and are passionate about whatever it is they happen to be talking about. You can't expect a person to lie when discussiong something controversial. That would be wrong and defeat the purpose of free speech. If someone asks a controversial question, then they need to expect an answer that they may not agree with. Period.
