Off to Vegas
My friend and fellow swimmer, Karen, and I are heading to Las Vegas this morning to swim in a long course meet that the Las Vegas Masters team is hosting this afternoon. It's the same pool I swam my very first USMS meet at less than six months ago. My, how things have changed since that day in late January. I feel much more prepared this time around. It's an ongoing learning experience and challenge, that's for sure ... but I feel like I have come a long way since that experience (and yet, still have so far to go).
I’m still caught in quite a whirlwind of emotions from losing my dear friend Donna on Thursday and I considered not attending the meet, but it almost seems as though getting there, clearing my mind, and just swimming the best I can will be cathartic in a way. Swimming the blues away, so to speak. Times like this really make you wake up and realize how important it is to live each day to the fullest, you know?
And so with that…I’m off to the bright lights of Vegas, albeit headed to an indoor pool with no slot machines or bright lights in sight.
Over & Out,
